The following is a brief portfolio of qualifications, clinical interests and professional experiences;
In an occupational life spanning a number of decades, I've qualified in three distinct professional capacities. I initially trained as a Social Worker in the UK with the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (memb. no. 44129). It was during undergraduate studies a fascination with psychology began (specifically counselling, psychotherapy and psychoanalysis) inspiring future aspirations, ultimately in becoming a Psychologist and Psychotherapist. To this end, and for several years, I worked in London both as a Social Worker and as a Primary Care Psychologist with a number of State Social Services and the NHS.
Since returning to Ireland twenty five plus years ago, I have worked in private practice, where I now solely specialise in the Psychological Therapies (commonly known as, counselling, psychotherapy and analysis).
In these respects, I'm an Associate Fellow and Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI memb. no. M4479C). I am also an Associate Fellow and Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS memb. no 087638). Within the BPS I am a Senior Practitioner on their Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy. In 2018, the PSI formed a similar register to that of the BPS - the Division of Psychotherapy (for Irish Psychologists with an expertise in the Psychological Therapies) to which I am a Full Member.
Following Chartered status I pursued further professional interests and obtained Registration as Psychotherapist both in the UK and in Ireland. The organisations to which I was fully accredited include; The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP), The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP memb. no. 577), The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP memb. no. 4156466), and The United Kingdom Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP memb. no. 148).
